Knowing the day and the hour - a relpy

Some Christian brothers I know have approached me and told me that no man can know the date of Armageddon. I perceive this no longer to be true. Please, let us consider 3 Scriptures briefly…

36 “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. (Matthew 24).

This is the text used by those who postulate one cannot know the date.

Here is a text I use to show that true servants of the Lord will know the date of his epiphany,,,

7 For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets. 8 There is a lion that has roared! Who will not be afraid? The Sovereign Lord Jehovah himself has spoken! Who will not prophesy?’ (Amos 3)

It is true that for those asleep, those in the world, this day will come surprisingly, as a thief. But for those keeping on the watch…

4 But YOU, brothers, YOU are not in darkness, so that that day should overtake YOU as thieves, 5 for YOU are all sons of light and sons of day. We belong neither to night nor to darkness. (1. Thessalonians 5)

Is there a contradiction?

The answer to this apparent contradiction is to be found in the fifth chapter of the Revelation. The Father had kept certain things sealed and secret until Christ had made atonement for sin. For, IF that mission had failed, there would not be any reason to proceed any further with that plan. Therefore, no man, including Jesus Christ, nor angel, knew of those sealed things. When our Lord successfully completed His mission, He became worthy to unseal the secret things of the Father…

9 And they sing a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation (Revelation 5)

And, once unsealed, He could then reveal them to His servants, the prophets.

Or putting this another way, who knows the date of his marriage before he proposes? So, even Jesus couldn’t really know all the fine details of the timing until he had made the New Covenant with his apostles.

To understand all prophecy is not necessary for salvation. Indeed understanding will only be given to those who obey Him and will only be given to those with a need to know. It will also be given to those directly affected. So, understanding of end time events will only be given to those who obey God and live at that time.

Let us be careful, not to read into Scripture, things that are not there. Jesus did NOT say; No man will ever know the day or hour. He did NOT say: No man CAN ever know the day or hour. He did say that no man knew the day and hour at the time that He was speaking! In fact, the Greek word used is “oiden” which is literally translated as “has seen” in the perfect tense. So this was true at the time stated, no one had seen then. But it is not true in the end times today.

Daniel himself was told that the prophecies penned by him were sealed until the time of the end…

9 And he went on to say: “Go, Daniel, because the words are made secret and sealed up until the time of [the] end. (Daniel 12:9)

Today there is great discussion about the king of the south and various prophecies. Instead of relying upon such material published by man, I have chosen to rely upon the Word of God, not the words of men. Seeking understanding from God and standing on His Word, I share with you, on this site, those things that have been revealed to me. I urge you to study the Holy Scriptures and prove whether these things are of God or not.
