On the one hand Russia has to react to the increasing pressure from the United States and Britain and its armed wing, the NATO. On the other hand, it has left Europe's hands tied and has thus avoided a penalty by the "Leopard" (EU).

The temperature between Russia and the US over Georgia keeps rising. Regardless of how things started, or who is right or wrong; the situation has produced certain results.

1. Russia is now in a position to interrupt the Baku Tblisi Ceyhan pipeline at will. The only other pipeline from the Caspean Caucasus region is further north in Russia. This places Russia in a position to cut off all petroleum and gas from the Caucasus and Russia, to Europe and North America.

2 The United States and especially Europe are very uneasy about this. Certain Central European countries are also very uneasy about the rhetoric coming from the Bush Administration and are deeply concerned about a possible Russia NATO confrontation.

3 Talk is being revived in diplomatic circles in Europe regarding the possibility of neutralizing Europe and creating a counter balance between the US and Russia to ensure the peace. The idea is there, but the way to achieve this is still unknown. It seems that it will take a still bigger crisis to break through the inertia of the present alignment of nations and an extraordinary leader to show the way.

4 At the same time, the wisdom of American leadership is being called into question in Europe, thus destabilizing NATO even more. The situation now appears ripe for dynamic new leadership and change in Europe, in the interests of world peace and human survival. One more major crisis and Europeans will be crying out for a leadership that can save them from disaster.

5 NATO has moved nine ships into the Black Sea, with nine more in route, equipped with hundreds of cruise missiles, some of them nuclear tipped. Russia is closely monitoring them as the attack on Iran looms. Russia has warned NATO that the Black Sea Treaty, limits NATO ships to nine and any increase over that will be a treaty breach. The mission of these ships is to strike Iran from the North and to ensure that there is no interference with those pipelines. They will also draw some Russian ships out of the Med Sea. If Russia even threatens those pipelines, a truly major crisis will result. Russia has recalled it's Flagship the MOSKVA and several others on their way to Syria to return to the Black Sea.

It should be noted that the prophecy of Daniel predicts that the "king of the north" will dominate the territories and the riches of the "king of the south", the antitypical ‘Egypt’.

43 And he will actually rule over the hidden treasures of the gold and the silver and over all the desirable things of Egypt. And the Lib´y·ans and the E·thi·o´pi·ans will be at his steps. (Daniel 11:43).

At this point in time we are completing 7 important cycles of a time, 7 times on September 4 2008, 2550 days since the fall of the World Trade Centre (September 11, 2001), and 2,520 days since the publication of the of the Watchtower Society’s disassociation statement from the United Nations (October 11, 2001).

Today, 40 weeks (a full term human pregnancy) since the peace and security declaration of the Annapolis Peace Conference expire. Will we see an important destructive event tomorrow or the day after tomorrow?

In a nutshell

During the following days, before or on September 30, 2008, something big will happen if the United Nations introduce the prophetic "disgusting thing causing desolation" before then. This dramatic event of major proportions would transform the world stage forever.

What could this be? A nuclear attack on New York City, Jerusalem or the Vatican? Anything that is completely unknown to us thus far? Will it mark the start of a military chain reaction that will lead into the "great tribulation"? In any event, the Word of God will not fail. Our limited understanding of it may.

5 Now as for the times and the seasons, brothers, YOU need nothing to be written to YOU. 2 For YOU yourselves know quite well that Jehovah’s day is coming exactly as a thief in the night. 3 Whenever it is that they are saying: “Peace and security!” then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pang of distress upon a pregnant woman; and they will by no means escape. 4 But YOU, brothers, YOU are not in darkness, so that that day should overtake YOU as it would thieves, 5 for YOU are all sons of light and sons of day. We belong neither to night nor to darkness. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-5.)
