The coming 3,5 years of drought and famine

The coming 3½ years of "hunger"

Articel in association wit Emmanuel

A global "drought" and "famine" for 3½ years is approaching. Prepare yourselves to face a time of very severe crisis.

This "drought" and this "famine" will primarily be spiritual and have to do with the abolition of the traditional religious systems of the world. The freedom to “eat” spiritually will be abolished by a new political entity that will come to power, probably inside the United Nations Organization, at some point after the
September 30, 2008.

Unfortunately, this lack of spiritual food will be reflected in the supply and availability of physical provisions due to the tremendous economic crisis that is about to explode, where money will not be worth anything. After some setup time, only those who receive the “mark of the beast” and thus support the new "idol" of the world, will be able to buy the necessities of life.

[It is ironic, but this article was written early on September 15th, just hours before the collapse of the
US banking system (bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers Investments) became publicly known. You can be confident that this crisis will lead to the collapse of the capitalistic system as we know it.]

The global "great tribulation" predicted by Jesus might begin
September 30, 2008.

On September 24, 7 years since the fall of the
Twin Towers in New York according to the lunar calendar are completed. The Towers fell on September 11, 2001, which corresponds to the 23rd day of the 6th month (Elul) on the lunar calendar. This year the true anniversary of this atrocity is the September 23/24, the first day of autumn.

And just as the fall of the Towers announced the start of the final 7 years of human administration without angelic intervention, the autumn equinox heralds the beginning of the last 3½ years of this world, now with angelic intervention.

Circumstances apparently will be similar to the Jewish "great distress" of 66AD -70AD, but this time on a global scale. The
Jerusalem of those times represents the centre of Christian worship today which shortly will be "under siege" by the armies of “the devastation”. Back then these armies erected the "disgusting thing causing desolation", thus fulfilling the sign given by Jesus in his great prophecy about the end of this system of things.

Christian worship? This attack will be targeted against all Christian groups, especially those who were called into the New Covenant in this second presence. Just as the Israelites had to face the consequences for their betraying the Messiah, these Christina will now have to face the consequences for their apostasy. This time of trial and discipline will most likely start in autumn 2008.

It is a blessing that, this "great tribulation" will not last seven years (from 2008 to 2015), as the last seven years of world hunger in the days of Joseph, but "because of the elect", the duration of this great calamity will be shortened in the middle of the period, after 3½ years.

In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved: but for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be cut short. (Matthew 24:22).

An era of blessings for all humanity is coming after all these calamities. The pain that all nations will have to endure is only the prelude to the grand climax of man's rebellion against God. After that, the Paradise will be restored throughout the planet, when the Messiah and “New Jerusalem” will provide blessing and healing to all the faithful.

The three years and six months

These 3½ years will be an antitype of the actions of God’s great prophet Elijah around 937 – 933 BC. Because of the gross idolatry and immorality in
Israel, YHWH empowered Elijah to shut up the heavens to cause a drought and famine for 3½ years…

17 And Elijah the Tishbite from the inhabitants of Gilead proceeded to say to Ahab: “As Jehovah the God of Israel before whom I do stand is living, there will occur during these years neither dew nor rain, except at the order of my word!” (1 Kings 17)

Where does the Bible say that this period lasted three and a half years? Jesus himself gave us the details about the exact duration of this drought:

24 But he said: “Truly I tell YOU that no prophet is accepted in his home territory. 25 For instance, I tell YOU in truth, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, so that a great famine fell upon all the land, 26 yet Elijah was sent to none of those [women], but only to Zarephath in the land of Sidon to a widow. (Luke 4).

Also, James the brother of Jesus said something similar:

17 Elijah was a man with feelings like ours, and yet in prayer he prayed for it not to rain; and it did not rain upon the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the land put forth its fruit. (James 5)

This period corresponds to the period of prophesying of the "two witnesses in sack cloth" as described in Revelation…

11 And a reed like a rod was given me as he said: “Get up and measure the temple [sanctuary] of God and the altar and those worshiping in it. 2 But as for the courtyard that is outside the temple [sanctuary], cast it clear out and do not measure it, because it has been given to the nations, and they will trample the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. 3 And I will cause my two witnesses to prophesy a thousand two hundred and sixty days dressed in sackcloth.” 4 These are [symbolized by] the two olive trees and the two lampstands and are standing before the Lord of the earth. (Revelation 11)

Jesus himself prophesied that way for three and a half years from autumn 29 C.E. until spring 33 C.E. The "cup" that he drank (persecution), his true followers were to drink as well and this is something that apparently is going to happen on a global scale between the autumn of 2008 and the spring of 2012. This is a time of testing for true Christians.

During these 42 months when the courtyard outside the sanctuary is trodden by the nations, these "two witnesses" prophesy 1260 days. These 42 months or 1260 days are three "times" and half a “time” of tribulation accompanied by the work of those 2 witnesses.

Note: The "altar" in the Scriptures is a system of worship, a religion, which is based on the sacrifice that validates a covenant. In the case of Christians, their religion is based on the sacrifice of Jesus, which validates the New Covenant.

A careful observation of the actions of the "two witnesses" shows that these worshipers of God were prefigured by Moses and Elijah.

Moses and Elijah

5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire issues forth from their mouths and devours their enemies; and if anyone should want to harm them, in this manner he must be killed. 6 These have the authority to shut up heaven that no rain should fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every sort of plague as often as they wish. (Revelation 11)

It was Elijah the prophet who called down fire on the soldiers who came to take him disrespectfully to the king of
Israel. And it was Elijah's word that stopped the rain from falling "during the days of his prophesy" in the territory of the apostate nation.

10 But E·li´jah answered and spoke to the chief of the fifty: “Well, if I am a man of God, let fire come down from the heavens and eat up you and your fifty.” And fire came descending from the heavens and went eating up him and his fifty. (2 Kings 1)

12 But E·li´jah answered and spoke to them: “If I am a man of the [true] God, let fire come down from the heavens and eat up you and your fifty.” And fire of God came descending from the heavens and went eating up him and his fifty. (2 Kings 1)

36 And it came about at the time that the grain offering goes up that E·li´jah the prophet began to approach and say: “O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, today let it be known that you are God in Israel and I am your servant and it is by your word that I have done all these things. 37 Answer me, O Jehovah, answer me, that this people may know that you, Jehovah, are the [true] God and you yourself have turned their heart back.”

38 At that the fire of Jehovah came falling and went eating up the burnt offering and the pieces of wood and the stones and the dust, and the water that was in the trench it licked up. 39 When all the people saw it, they immediately fell upon their faces and said: “Jehovah is the [true] God! Jehovah is the [true] God!” (1 Kings 18)

But Elijah does not act alone in this prophecy. The other "witness" is Moses, who was the means by which the Lord converted water into blood in Egypt. It was also through him that the entire land of Egypt, representing the modern world especially the system promoted by the "king of the south", was plagued.

So it is appropriate that Jesus appeared to his closest followers in a vision with these glorified chosen servants during "the transfiguration."

17 Six days later Jesus took Peter and James and John his brother along and brought them up into a lofty mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone as the sun, and his outer garments became brilliant as the light. 3 And, look! there appeared to them Moses and E·li´jah, conversing with him. 4 Responsively Peter said to Jesus: “Lord, it is fine for us to be here. If you wish, I will erect three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was yet speaking, look! a bright cloud overshadowed them, and, look! a voice out of the cloud, saying: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved; listen to him.” (Matthew 17)

This vision reaches its climax when Jesus comes in His Father's glory with his angels, an event that seems to happen in the spring of 2012, when the chronological model of the sanctuary is completed.

It is interesting that Peter who was an eyewitness of this glory during the transfiguration associates the time of Jesus’ epiphany with a "bright star". This will happen after the 3½ years at in spring 2012.

19 Consequently we have the prophetic word [made] more sure; and YOU are doing well in paying attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until day dawns and a daystar [literally “light bearer”) rises, in YOUR hearts (2 Peter 1:19.)
